Sakura Science Workshop at Ibaraki University 2021 (SSWIU2021)
-The fourth Asian workshop of experiments and theory in quantum beam molecular sciences-
It is our great pleasure to welcome all the participants to the 4th Asian workshop of experiments and theory in quantum beam molecular sciences, which is supported by JST Sakura Science Program. We started the Sakura Science Plan in 2018 at Ibaraki University to invite young scientists. Students and their mentors from Asian countries promote cutting-edge quantum beam sciences and their related sciences of Japan.
In 2018-2019, IQBS-IU invited graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members from Ubon Ratchathani University, VNU (Vietnam National University) University of Science, Hanoi, Fu Jen University, Taiwan, Kasetsart University, Thailand, Udayana University, Indonesia, and CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology. Each year, we organized the Asian Workshop in Experiment and Theory in Quantum Beam Molecular Sciences (Sakura Science workshop at Ibaraki University). All students/postdocs were invited speakers of the workshops to enhance exchanges with people from Ibaraki University. A few of the collaborations are publication in scientific journals. Our program in 2018 was highlighted on the JST Sakura Science homepage.
In 2020, our application for Sakura Science Plan to invite eight students, two postdocs, and two faculties from Mahidol and Chulalongkorn Universities, Thailand, was approved by JST; however, because of the COVID-19 pandemic situation, we needed to cancel the invitation and instead, we had one session of the 5th international symposium of Quantum Beam Science at Ibaraki University on 21st Nov 2020. In addition to three professors of Mahidol and Chulalongkorn Universities, one student from Ubon Ratchathani University, two students from Ibaraki University are invited. Prof. Dr. G. Narahari Sastry, Director of the CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST) (formerly a principal scientist of CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology), Assam, India, was a plenary speaker of the session. This session was successfully finished.
This year, we invite speakers from Hong Kong, India, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Spain, and Japan.
The SSWIU2021 is expected to be a fantastic opportunity to meet young chemists from Asia and Europe, contributing to various aspects and applications of this long tradition and fascinating area of research in the informal and stimulating atmosphere.
We look forward to welcoming you to this scientific event.
With the best regards and wishes,
